Hey there,
If you’re reading this, you have found me on Substack 👋
I decided to start experimenting with Substack, mainly out of curiosity about how it would go. Building an email list for my blog, future-of-computing.com, has been pretty slow-moving (two years in: 545 email subscribers vs. 2302 subscribers on the LinkedIn newsletter). Seems like people don’t like to sign up for new newsletters on the internet, whereas LinkedIn grows naturally through network effects.
Let’s try Substack! Today, I’m at nine subscribers, and going forward, I’ll publish short weekly recaps of what I have been up to, what’s been interesting to me and some other fun and random stuff.
Let’s Catch Up at Latitude59?
When I started working as a venture capital associate at Lunar Ventures in 2022, I messaged 20+ startup event organizers, asking whether there was any chance I could contribute to the event (and get a free ticket).
While I never heard back from most of the organizers, I got response from almost all the startup events in the Baltics—landing jury spots for the startup pitch competitions at TechChill in Riga, Latvia, and Startup Fair in Vilnius, Lithuania, and exciting enough, being part of a small startup-investor-session at Latitude59 in Tallinn, Estonia, where I had the chance to talk about our approach to deep tech investing.
Fast-forward two years, and I’ll be back at Latitude59 next week as part of a panel on quantum computing and to record my first-ever podcast.
Over the past two years, I’ve interviewed 100+ startup founders working on the future of computing for my blog, future-of-computing.com. And it’s indeed a blog, so I interview people, take notes, and compile those into an article—partly because I enjoy writing, and it’s weird hearing your own voice, and partly because a podcast requires really good audio (at least a proper mic), which requires a bit more coordination and upfront preparation for the interviewees.
This year, the folks at Latitude59 have dedicated an entire stage to podcasting, with proper equipment in place, and it’s my pleasure to record the first-ever podcast for future-of-computing.com, with Sebastian Weidt from Universal Quantum.
Check out the program to find the panel and the podcast session, both on Friday.
